Tavern Books Lannan Literary Grant

photo of For the Living DeadTavern Books, begun by founding editors Carl Adamshick and Michael McGriff in 2010, specializes in small editions of what they call “lost books”, books they believe should be brought back into print, with a particular focus on works in translation.  Each title is a small gem, beautifully produced, each with an original art work cover. Tavern titles include works by the Hungarian poet Ferenc Juhász, poems about Cavafy by Yannis Ritsos, four collections by Tomas Tranströmer, and works by Killarney Clary, William Stafford, and George Hitchcock among others.
