Lydia Davis is the author a novel, End of the Story, and five collections of stories, including Almost No Memory, Break It Down, and Sketches for a Life of Wassily. Ms. Davis has also translated Jean-Paul Sartre and Maurice Blanchot, as well as biographies of Marie Curie and Alexis de Tocqueville, from the French. Ms. Davis, who received a Lannan Literary Award for Fiction in 1998, lives in upstate New York and teaches at Bard College.

Dave Eggers is the author of A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, of which the Washington Post said, "Eggers evokes the terrible beauty of youth like a young Bob Dylan, frothing with furious anger." He is also the author of You Shall Know Our Velocity!, and How We Are Hungry. In 1998, he founded McSweeney's, an independent publishing house now located in San Francisco.
