Adam Zagajewski

Adam Zagajewski was born in Lvov, Poland, in 1945 and educated at the Iagelonian University in Cracow. An active dissident of the Polish communist regime in the 1970s, he immigrated to France in 1982. He is the author of six poetry books, including Tremor, Canvas, Mysticism for Beginners, and the essay collections Solidarity and Solitude, Two Cities, and Another Beauty. Mr. Zagajewski's honors include the Tomas Transtromer Prize from Sweden, a Prix de la Liberté from France, and a Guggenheim Fellowship. Mr. Zagajewski lives in Paris and Houston and teaches at the University of Houston.

Edward Hirsch is the author of five books of poetry, For the Sleepwalkers, Wild Gratitude, The Night Parade, Earthly Measures, On Love, and How to Read a Poem and Fall in Love with Poetry. A recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship, Mr. Hirsch teaches at the University of Houston.
