Michael Silverblatt Presents Bookworm

Michael Silverblatt, Host of Bookworm Lannan is delighted to bring to a wider audience selections from the audio archives of the nationally syndicated radio interview program, BOOKWORM. Conceived by host Michael Silverblatt 15 years ago in the belief that what we generally hear of writers are “interview occasions”, these half-hour programs bring us writers at the time of their best work, in conversation with Silverblatt, named “the best reader in America” by Norman Mailer and “a national treasure” by Susan Sontag.

The audio files are sorted alphabetically by the author’s last name. Please click on the links to the right to view and listen to the audio files.

You will need Real Audio software to listen to these files. You will see this symbol audio icon image indicating an audio file. Simply click on it, and be patient while the Real Audio Player opens on your desktop. Depending on your internet connection, it may take a few minutes for the audio file to begin playing. You will be able to adjust the volume, pause, start and stop the recording once it begins streaming.

There is a good chance the Real Player software is already on your computer. However, if you see “?” or “X” please download the free Real Audio Player.  For your convenience, this link will open in a new window. If you already have Real Player, you may need to update to the most recent version.

Many more Bookworm programs are being added to this archive. Check back soon to listen to more conversations with Michael Silverblatt and the most interesting cross-section of writers and poets in the United States.

The entire BOOKWORM audio archive can be accessed on the KCRW website.
