Sam Howe Verhovek is a former correspondent for the New York Times, working for the paper in New York, Texas, and the Pacific Northwest. In 2002 he joined the Los Angeles Times as a Seattle-based correspondent and later served as a foreign correspondent in the Middle East, covering the Iraq War, and in China.
He is currently at work on a book about aviation history.
