Lawrence Fodor

Lawrence Fodor is a Santa Fe-based abstract painter whose studio works include monotypes, watercolors, and paintings using oil, alkyd, and wax on canvas, panels, and wood boxes. The artist was born and raised in Los Angeles, receiving his BFA from the Otis Art Institute before conducting an independent study throughout the world in places such as England, Italy, Mexico, and Nepal.

In his nearly three decades-long career, Fodor has exhibited widely in both solo and group shows at venues that include Linda Durham Contemporary Art, Santa Fe; SCAPE, Corona del Mar; and Friesen Gallery, Seattle. In 2009, the Lannan Foundation held a solo exhibition of Fodor’s work titled Koan Boxes, composed of small abstract paintings in a spectrum of colors. In 2010, Fodor participated in a two-person exhibition with artist Chris Richter, titled Infinite Sequence, at SCAPE, Corona del Mar. His most recent work is an installation, Holding Light, at the Laguna Art Museum, which was on view through May, 2012.
