Fady Joudah
Fady Joudah‘s first poetry collection, The Earth in the Attic, was a Yale Series recipient in 2007, chosen by Louise Glück. His second book, Alight, is forthcoming from Copper Canyon Press. Joudah’s translations from the Arabic of Mahmoud Darwish’s poetry have earned him a Banipal prize from the UK and a PEN prize, for The Butterfly’s Burden and If I Were Another, respectively. His most recent translation work is of Palestinian poet Ghassan Zaqtan, Like a Straw Bird It Follows Me, due from Yale University Press in the spring of 2012. Fady Joudah is also a physician, married with two children. He lives in Houston, TX.
