Erika Blumenfeld

Erika Blumenfeld is an internationally exhibiting multi-media artist and Guggenheim fellow. Since 1998, Blumenfeld has been creating photo and video-based photojournalistic work that documents various aspects of the natural world. In her Light Recordings series, the artist worked with both solar and lunar light, developing cameras and processes to document the subtle changes of light that mark our yearly astronomical cycles. She also completed a residency in Antarctica, where she documented arctic atmospheric phenomena.
Blumenfeld is a published photojournalist, whose work has appeared in Al Jazeera English, Inter Press Service, and Democracy Now! among others. She has received grants from the Creative Capitol Foundation and the Foundation for Contemporary Arts, as well as a purchase award from the New Mexico Museum of Art. She has exhibited widely all over the United States and abroad, and her work has been featured in magazines including Art in America and ARTnews, as well as The Polaroid Book published by Taschen.
