Christina Hejtmanek

Christina Hejtmanek is an American landscape photographer. Hejtmanek combines her background in painting and cinematic aesthetic to produce fragmented photos of the natural world. Her work features partial sunsets, blurred landscapes, and fractured clouds that are simultaneously suggestive of a certain place and an abstract experience. The concept of the American road trip is a crucial facet of Hejtmanek’s work, and her anthology Almost contains photos both taken on and reminiscent of the open road.
Hejmanek received her BA from Tufts University, and attended both the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and Parsons School of Design for her MFA. Her work has been featured in group exhibitions from Brooklyn to Berlin, and she has had solo exhibitions at the Blackstone Gallery in New York and the Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas, where she completed a residency in 2001.
