Chris Williams is a long-time environmental activist based in New York City. He is professor of physics and chemistry at Pace University and chair of the science department at Packer Collegiate Institute. A Writer-in-Residence at Truthout, he is widely published, appears on radio and TV, and is a regular contributor to The Real News Network.

He is the author of Ecology and Socialism: Solutions to Capitalist Ecological Crisis and is currently working on a book on the theme of the commons, an alternative way of structuring human society that is socially just and ecologically sustainable. His forthcoming book, co-written with Fred Magdoff, is provisionally entitled Creating an Ecological Society and will be published by Monthly Review Press.

Williams is the recipient of a Lannan 2013 Cultural Freedom Fellowship and a Lannan Residency Fellowship.
