Chris Williams is a long-time environmental activist based in New York City. He is professor of physics and chemistry at Pace University and chair of the science department at Packer Collegiate Institute. He is Writer-in-Residence at Truthout and a contributor to the International Socialist Review (ISR), Z Magazine, Alternet, CommonDreams, Counterpunch, The Indypendent and other publications.
Williams is the recipient of a Lannan 2013 Cultural Freedom Fellowship and a Lannan Residency Fellowship. He is the author of Ecology and Socialism: Solutions to Capitalist Ecological Crisis and is working on a second book on the theme of the commons, an alternative way of structuring human society that is socially just and ecologically sustainable.
